दुनियावी रस्म तो नहीं है कि ये खत आपको मिले...क्योंकि अब तो मैं उस देहरी पर हूं ही नहीं....जहां रिश्ते अब किसी दूसरे जामे में देखे जाते हैं। लेकिन मैं जानती हूं मैं जो लिख रही हूं वो आपके जेहन में है....सवाल कई हैं पापा...कितने पूछूं...कितने छोड़ दूं....कहां से शुरू करूं.....वहां से जब आप मुझे अस्पताल से रूई के फाहों में सहेज कर लाए थे....या वहां से जब अपने कांधे पर लेकर सीढ़ियां उतरे ......पापा....आपके पास इतना भी वक्त नहीं रहा कि कभी मेरा स्कूल बैग चेक कर लिया होता...तो पापा मैं क्या कर रही हूं , कैसे कर रही हूं...इससे आपको भले ही कोई मतलब न हो..मुझे इससे था कि आप क्या कर रहे हैं.....सोचना पापा...जेल की उस अंधेरी कोठरी के एक कोने में बैठ कर ....कि कहां चूक हो गई हमसे.....और मां....तुम भी सोचना कि अभी तक चुप क्यों हो...तुम

Arushi's fate reminds me of a couplet;
'बच्चों के छोटे हाथों को चांद सितारे छूने दो,
चार किताबें पढ़कर ये भी हम जैसे हो जाएंगे..'
but in our society, the children are being deprived of sky of imagination.
It may seem that this is being done by their parents themselves, especially in affluent societies.
But aren't these parents' themselves governed by the insane desires which is continuously being fed as inevitible in our minds?
This incident is a mere symptom of the disease which our society is grappling with.
Wonder whether any Rajesh talwar will ever have the fortitude to commit such a crime, had his cheeks been frequently touched by the tender kisses of her daughter or his shoulders ever felt the weight of joyous ride of her daughter?
यहाँ यह लड़की अकेलेपन और प्यार के आभाव में घुट रही थी, क्योंकि इसके माँ-बाप दोनों के पास बच्ची के लिए समय नहीं था. अकेलेपन में वह कब नौकर के साथ हमबिस्तर होने लगी, ख़ुद उसे भी पता नहीं चला होगा, और उच्च शिक्षित, उच्च वर्गीय बाप को यह सहन नहीं हुआ की उसकी लड़की घर के नौकर की अन्कशायिनी बने. मार डाला. कम्युनिस्ट कहेंगे वर्ग संघर्ष, नारिवादियाँ कहेंगी ऑनर किलिंग, पर अगर ऐसी ही घटना उनकी बेटी घरेलू नौकर के साथ अंजाम देती तो................................
Assuming what the police says is right (that a father killed his daughter)aren't we all are partners in the crime? We condemn the inhuman act , and at the same time, treat it as a crime thriller, take voyeuristic pleasure in the arushi/hemraj & talwar/durrani stories, munch our snacks while the whole T.V. News world goes gaga and makes mockery of the sordid human tragedy. Is this at all human? Just ponder!
आरूषि की मौत चौंकाने वाली है...मेरी आशंका है कि आने वाले दिनों में जब कुछ और सच इस मामले में बाहर आएंगे...तो लोग यकायक भरोसा नहीं करेंगे...इनमें से कई लोग ऐसे भी होंगे जो इसका मज़ा लेंगे...क्योंकि सच चौंकाने वाले हो सकते हैं...जैसा इलाहाबाद से स्कंद शुक्ला ने लिखा है....लेकिन एक पत्रकार की हैसियत से सोचता हूं...तो लगता है कि सच सामने आना ज़रूरी है चाहे जितना भी विकृत क्यों न हो...एक आदमी की गलती से सैकड़ों, हज़ारों सबक लें तो क्या बुरा है ? ब्रेख्त ने भी तो असल साहित्य उसे ही माना था जो सीधा यथार्थ दिखाए...क्योंकि बदलाव आदर्श से नहीं आता। फिर सोचता हूं ये देश भुलक्क्ड़ भी तो बहुत है...महीने भर में लोग सब भूल जाएंगे..
